RESTON, Virginia: Volkswagen is recalling more than 60,000 vehicles in the U.S. after a gear display malfunction was identified, which could lead to a potential rollaway risk if the parking brake is not engaged, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced over the weekend.
The recall includes 60,490 vehicles, specifically 2021-2023 Volkswagen ID.4, 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron, and 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron Sportback.
The issue stems from a failure to display the gear position properly, which could increase the risk of an accident if drivers are unaware that their vehicle is not in the correct mode.
