BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese authorities on Friday earmarked 290 million yuan (about 40.65 million U.S. dollars) from the central natural disaster-relief funds to support rescue and relief work in regions hit by floods and typhoons.
The emergency funds were jointly allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management.
A total of 90 million yuan will be allocated to the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Zhejiang as Typhoon Doksuri, the fifth typhoon of this year, has brought gales and heavy rain to the regions.
The funds will be used for local emergency rescue and disaster relief efforts, focusing on searching, rescuing, and relocating residents affected by the disasters, detecting secondary disasters, and repairing damaged houses, among other tasks.
The other 200 million yuan will be distributed to the provincial regions of Sichuan and Inner Mongolia to deal with floods and droughts.
