JAKARTA -- Indonesia's economic liquidity or money supply (M2) in January 2021 amounted to 6,761.0 trillion rupiahs (about 480.2 billion U.S. dollars), up 11.8 percent year-on-year, an official said.
Based on its component, the M2 growth was driven by quasi money, which grew by 9.7 percent year-on-year, lower than the 10.5-percent growth in December last year, particularly for time deposits, Erwin Haryono, executive director of the Communication Department at the Bank Indonesia, said in a statement on Tuesday. SEOUL -- South Korea's household debts hit a new record high last year as households rushed to purchase home and stocks with borrowed money amid the record-low policy rate, central bank data showed Tuesday.
Household credit reached a new high of 1,726.1 trillion won (1.6 trillion U.S. dollars) as of the end of December, up 125.8 trillion won (113.4 billion dollars) from a year earlier, according to the Bank of Korea. It marked the biggest yearly increase in four years since 2016. (South Korea-Household Debts)

SINGAPORE -- The Ministry of Trade and Industry and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said on Tuesday that the MAS Core Inflation edged up to -0.2 percent on a year-on-year basis in January 2021, from -0.3 percent last December.

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's headline inflation dipped to 3.7 percent in January 2021 from 4.6 percent in December 2020, local media citing data from the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) reported here Tuesday.
According to DCS data, inflation in food groups was 2.7 percent and driven by price increases in rice, coconuts, green chilies, vegetables, red onions, fresh fish, fresh fruits, turmeric powder, coconut oil, tamarind and dried chilies. (Sri Lanka-Headline Inflation)
