Japan Herald Friday 16th January, 2004

The mother of pop star Aaron Carter won't face charges in the beating of her husband's girlfriend in Marathon, Fla., The Miami Herald said Friday.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies said Jane Carter, 44, broke into her estranged husband's home in the Florida Keys and attacked his girlfriend, Ginger Elrod, 29.

Aaron Carter, whose top hit is Crush on You, reported the incident to police.

Jane Carter was arrested after the incident Tuesday, and was released the following morning. Robert Carter, who said he and Elrod planned to marry, said his girlfriend won't press charges.

Ginger is not pressing charges. Still, restraining orders are in place, Robert Carter told The Herald.

Jane and Robert Carter separated in March but are still managing their son's career.
