Customs officials arrest one at IGI airport for carrying electrical items worth over Rs.26 lakhs

Air Customs officers arrested a passenger named Mr. Kamal on Tuesday at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for carrying 1600 nos. of Sony Memory Cards for cyber shot cameras, 3200 nos. of game processors and other electronic items worth approximately Rs. 26.62 Lacs.

Kamal has been charged with adopting a modus operandi of secreting the memory cards in his jeans and socks.

A resident of Delhi, Kamal, had arrived from Guangzhou, China, late on Monday night.

While passing through Green Channel, he was diverted and his baggages was scanned and some dutiable items appeared in the image.

A personal search revealed electronic goods worth Rs. 26.62 Lacs.

The goods were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962.

Kamal was arrested Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962.

Further investigations are in progress. (ANI)
