Larger version of Samsung Galaxy released

Japan Herald Sunday 6th May, 2012

Samsung Electronics has shown off its faster flagship smartphone.

The company unveiled the phone during the week in London in an effort to show its credentials as the world's best-selling mobile phone maker.

The Galaxy S3 from the South Korean maker offers face-recognition technology, a more powerful processor and the latest voice-activated controls.

Users can also watch video and write emails simultaneously.

The screen on the latest model is 12.2 cm, 22% larger than the Galaxy S2.

Last week Samsung overtook Nokia as the biggest maker of all types of mobile phone.

The S3 still has competition. An expected new version of Apple's iPhone is expected later this year.
